Kakcho Community Guidelines

The safety and well being of students in our communities is our top priority. To achieve this goal, our community moderators are trained to remove content that violates our community guidelines.

If you see content that you believe violates any of these guidelines, please click the flag icon on any post or comment to report it to the community moderators at your school.

❌ Bullying / Posting Personal Information

Do not use identifiable information of someone else in the community in a negative or mean-spirited ****context.

  • We permit the use of identifiable information when it is not used in a negative context.
  • Identifiable information includes names, initials, photos that do not obscure someone’s face, or any reference that could be reasonably used to identify a student. Soliciting or encouraging the release of another student’s identifiable information is prohibited.
  • Other exceptions to this rule include:
    • Faculty: Since school faculty are not part of the Kakcho community, they can be mentioned by name as long as someone is not making a verifiably false claim. TAs and RAs are not considered faculty because they are students.
    • Student groups or organizations: You can talk about student groups by name unless a post contains identifiable information about a specific individual in that group. However, if someone makes any claim that a person or group has done something that broke the law, it will always be removed unless it is verifiably true.
    • Newsworthy events: If there is newsworthy event involving an individual (i.e. the event is being talked about on news platforms that aren’t anonymous), discussion relating to the individual in the context of this event is permitted. However, personal attacks or releasing private information of any individual is always prohibited.

Do not release the private information (any information that is not public domain, i.e. contact info, address, whereabouts) of anyone.

  • Do not post about anyone, including public figures, university faculty, or individuals in or not in the community, in a way that would jeopardize their safety or otherwise create a danger to oneself or others.

❌ Hate Speech

We strictly prohibit any form of hate speech - defined as engaging in prejudice based on race, class, age, body type, religion, ethnicity, gender, or sexual orientation.

❌ Misinformation

Do not post any purposefully misleading information.

  • Our moderators are trained to remove content that is verifiably false. However, if someone makes any claim that a person or group has done something that broke the law, it will always be removed unless it is verifiably true.
  • Note that making any negative claim about an identifiable individual would always be removed for bullying / posting personal information.

Do not impersonate other students in your school.

  • Parody accounts are fine as long as it is explicitly made obvious that it is a parody.

❌ Spam

Do not post content that lacks relevance, uniqueness, or community value.

  • Do not post content that contains no substance.
  • Do not repeatedly post content that is similar.
  • Do not use Kakcho services to promote a service or product that does not directly benefit the Kakcho community (moderator discretion).

❌ Illegal Activity

Although discussion of drugs or alcohol is permitted, buying or selling of controlled substances is prohibited.
